Hello? [Oct. 23rd, 2007|08:40 am]
The Forsaken Society

Are folks still here?

I've deciding on something I think is detrimental to the game.

Lack of PC leadership.

ICC was a minor clusterfuck as there are so many "alphas" and so many of them don't want to communicate with others.

A LOT of shouting (myself included) and a lot of folks doing numerous things separately.

I wish there was a way to get some leadership roles established.

“White Hot Flames burn away the lies.
The Bitch Mother Cries”

These cryptic words have been strewn across the Capital District on fliers promoting Club Sin.

Portions of the Hisil around the Capital District have been devastated by formation of a very powerful Spirit Court, lead by the potent Cleansing Burn of Fire’s Touch. To make matters worse it seems this new Spirit court is attracting some very strange followers…

What happened to Danny Killington, and what was that Rite he was trying to perform…

Dark times have come to Albany. The birth of the Ghost Child, the Bale Hound visiting the Tur, and the Pure setting up shop downtown. Territories controled by the Forsaken have been untouched by the chaos but something is brewing, something big.

An emergency Ungin has been called by Coal Miner's Daughter.

"Uratha, I've spent many years alone in the Caves north of Albany. Something is wrong in Albany and we need to come together. On behalf of Word of Rage I feel it is time to gather in Albany and solve the problems of the city. I'm sorry for such short notice, but we need your help".

Guys, this Sage, I was down in that part of Albany just today. Shit is going to hit the news real quick like guys. People are starting to get real sick here. I took a look across to the other side, what I saw was not pretty, but it ain’t nothing really out of the ordinary. A lot of fear spirits and a lot of anxiety.

Some one has to be covering something up. I’m going to see about checking in to it Monday night. If any one wants to join me I’ll be in Washington Park at 8pm.. Meet me there.

Oh, by the way, I’ve contacted some of the other Packs in the area as well; we might as well get together and talk a little shop.

In the News

“ALBANY -- The Albany County Courthouse and other buildings along Columbia Street were reopened just before 5 p.m. after a state Health Department inspection cleared any fears that a significant radioactive leak had occurred.

Workers and members of the public streamed from the Albany County Judicial Center, the state Court of Appeals, City Hall and homes and businesses in the immediate vicinity during an evacuation around 3 p.m.
County sheriffs deputies and Albany police directed traffic in the logjam while fire fighters readied hoses at hydrants near the affected buildings.
A backhoe from CME Contractors, which is working on a renovation of the historic Eagle Street court facility, ran over a compaction meter earlier in the afternoon, said Det. James Miller, a spokesman for the Albany Department of Public Safety.
The device, which works like an x-ray machine, was being used to measure the density of soil at the construction site. While the box that contains radioactive isotopes was not damaged in the accident, it did release a small amount of radiation, Miller said.
``There was no danger at any time,'' Miller said. ``No health risk at all. Everything was done as a precaution.''
By 4:15 p.m., officials had determined the leak was small and were awaiting the go-ahead from health officials to declare the area safe. Albany County Sheriff James Campbell said radioactive readings around the piece of equipment were low.
The decision to evacuate the buildings caused confusion at first. Scores of office workers -- after standing in clusters outside St. Mary's Catholic Church in the cold -- were told they could not go to their vehicles if they'd parked inside the affected area.
Some sat out the cold in their vehicles, even though they were blocked by fire apparatus.
Workmen were working on the north side of the courthouse complex when the mishap occurred”

Well, KBH, the club director, has announced that MET: Mage will be coming out next Summer and that there are no other currently scheduled MET projects.

Please take this opportunity to drop Kelley an email or a postcard, letting her know how much you'd like to see MET: Forsaken and other Forsaken products! Make sure that other local fans, who may not be on this list, do so also. Kelley's email address is clubdirector@white-wolf.com. Her postal address is White Wolf Publishing, Inc.; 1554 Litton Dr.; Stone Mountain, Ga 30083; Attn: Kelley Barnes-Herrmann, Camarilla Club Director. Please be polite, positive and informative.

Just to be up front, please be aware that I will be submitting a proposal for MET: Forsaken later this month. But that isn't why I'm asking you to write. I have genuine affection for the game and want to see it thrive regardless of who's involved. Don't let my other efforts stop you from letting White Wolf know of your interest in the future of Forsaken.

Thanks!

Summary: Chuck's Projects [Sep. 6th, 2006|05:12 pm]
The Forsaken Society

maethe
[mood |creative]

Anyone in Forsaken Society can start a project. We're all here to help each other and keeping informed promotes that. For a while there's prob'ly going to be a high noise-to-signal ratio here until things get organized. To avoid information overload I suggest we occasionally post bullet-pointed or summarized updates prefacing the Subject heading with the "Summary:" so casual participants can catch the high points.

Here's a summary of my projects on the table...

1) Player and ST "Tips for Forsaken" booklets for ICC
Create some nice booklets listing categorized tips for folks to increase their enjoyment and improve the quality of their Forsaken game. These will be handed out at ICC. I have requested folks to share their tips over this list, I will be using the Forsaken wiki to archive and sort them, and I will be combing the club and other Forsaken resources, like the WW forums and the Werewolf developer for further additions. Content due date: 3 Oct 2006. Format due date: 20 Oct 2006. Final due date: 26 Oct 2006.

2) Werewolf-oriented recruiting kit
Create a 8.5 x 11" flat flyer, tri-fold flyer, poster, 10-minute Power-Point presentation, poster for Camarilla recruiting, and sign-up/contact sheet. Two versions: one werewolf only; one all venues, but still werewolf-focused. The PP presentation should work as a kiosk background (no speaker) or as a guided introduction to the club and venue. Materials due date: 1 Dec 2006. Distribution due date: ?

3) Introductory start-up plotkit
Provide a plotkit that can be adjusted for various locales that provides reason for werewolves to gather and packs to form (in other words, for a local werewolf chronicle to start). The plotkit will also provide motivation for packs to look beyond their territory without violating the letter or spirit of the source material. Finally, the plotkit will leave bottom-up story elements that can be used in the future if the local players wish to participate in a geographically larger arena or if new players are recruited into the game. A method of feedback will be provided so this and future plotkits can be improved. Content due date: Nov 14 2006. Format due date: 5 Dec 2006. Final due date: 31 Dec 2006.

For all three of these, I'll be looking for artwork (tho' I can prob'ly get some from work), and someone to kibitz with on graphic design. However, if you're interested in any aspect of the projects above, let me know.

Something I'm starting to look at as a tool, perhaps more process than project oriented: the Forsaken wiki.

Other projects that have been mentioned by other that I'm willing to help with: Tribal write-ups and plots.

First Steps (or "Screw baby steps. Let's think like GIANTS") [Sep. 5th, 2006|02:25 pm]
The Forsaken Society

maethe
[mood |creative]

First steps:

1) Introduce yourself!

2) Tell us the best thing you like about Forsaken.

3) What would you like to do to make the venue better?

4) Remember: The club - and thus the Forsaken venue - should be about having fun. So, have fun with this!

My first goals:

You've seen my three overarching goals. If not, you can find them on http://forsakensociety.livejournal.com/info. My first project is to deliver two nice looking pamphlets to ICC: "How to Play Forsaken," and "How to Run a Forsaken Game." Both will be an illustrated series of tips to improve the local game.

I've also created an email list, http://groups.yahoo.com/group/forsakensociety. This LiveJournal Community should be more casual and social, but it's also good for brainstorming since it has a less linear way of threading topics. The email list will be more geared toward "official" emails, such as announcements or project status. Things may overlap, and you aren't required to be on both.

I'd also like to introduce the idea of "Guerrilla Storytelling." The Camarilla often promotes the idea that "We are all storytellers." Let's take them at their word. I'd like the more creative of us to come up with new ways to tell stories via LARP, and the more outgoing of us to be ready to rush en masse into domains to introduce these concepts to storytellers and players in fun ways. I haven't really nailed this down beyond broad concepts, but part of this is to make game fun and new.

And THANKS!

UPDATE:
1) I'm Chuck Childers, US2002021015. A while back, I was honored to be named a Trustee by the club. I've been an ST and Coordinator at every level from local to global, and I was World Wide Werewolf Guy for both Apocalypse and Forsaken. However, I feel like I dropped the ball during my tenure as AAMST Forsaken - it was a very tough time in my life - and I'd like to make up for it. Since I favor loose, distributed structures, Forsaken Society is my method of choice.

2) I love the dichotomy between wolf and man, the balance of instinct and knowledge. I love moving my mind into the foreign shapes that are required to really get into wolf consciousness, while expressing those wolf-like expressions in a wholly human way.

3) I'm doing it, baby!

4) And I'm having fun, too!
